Assessment of a difficulty will vary depending upon individual needs. Following an assessment, individuals are under no obligation to undertake therapy with the service. If the person(s) agree to further treatment, they will be asked to sign a contract, asking for demographic, personal and contact details as well as information about their GP. This may be sent to them prior to the first assessment and if so, they will be requested to bring this with them to the first appointment.
Initial Assessment Session:
An assessment will usually involve at least one session with the individual or couple to gather information about the difficulties. This session will last between an hour and an hour and a half.
Questionnaires:
The individual may be asked to complete a brief questionnaire at the beginning of (or prior to) an assessment.
Following an assessment, treatment may be recommended. Treatment is always tailored to the individual and based upon an personalised assessment of their difficulties.
Any treatment offered is likely to integrate a range of several psychological models and may include:
• Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
• Individual Psychotherapy
• Family Therapy
